A New Chapter for Perinatal Mental Health in Arizona
Growth doesn’t always mean leaving something behind. Sometimes, it means stepping more fully into what’s been building all along.
For years, the Arizona Chapter of Postpartum Support International (PSI AZ) has worked alongside families, providers, and community partners to strengthen perinatal mental health across our state. Together, we’ve raised awareness, connected people to resources, supported providers, and helped build a more compassionate system of care for those navigating pregnancy, postpartum, and every path in between.
Today, we’re excited to share an important evolution in that work.
The PSI AZ Chapter is officially transitioning into its own nonprofit organization: Perinatal Mental Health Alliance of Arizona (PMHAAZ).
While our name and legal structure are changing, what matters most is staying the same. PMHAAZ will continue to serve as the Arizona Chapter of Postpartum Support International, and our mission, vision, and values remain fully aligned with the work that has guided us from the beginning.
Why this transition matters
Becoming an independent nonprofit allows us to strengthen our foundation and expand our impact across Arizona. This next chapter gives us greater flexibility to grow our programs, deepen partnerships, and respond more effectively to the needs of birthing people, families, and providers statewide.
As PMHAAZ, we will continue connecting our community to trusted perinatal mental health resources, while expanding opportunities for:
Scholarships and access to training for providers
Professional development and learning opportunities
Collaboration and connection across disciplines and communities
Advocacy that strengthens perinatal mental health systems statewide
Operating as an independent nonprofit organization, legally separate from PSI, Inc., allows us to build local capacity while staying connected to the national PSI network that has supported this work from the start.
Honoring our roots, building what’s next
This transition wouldn’t be possible without the strong foundation created through PSI AZ and the incredible partners, providers, volunteers, and families who have walked alongside us. We are deeply grateful for that support and for the shared commitment to ensuring no one has to navigate the perinatal journey alone.
PMHAAZ represents growth, not departure. It’s a reflection of what our community has built together—and where we’re headed next.
We’re excited to continue this work with you and look forward to sharing more soon, including our new website and branding. Thank you for being part of this next chapter and for the work you do every day in support of Arizona families.
